1970:
Yog - Monster From Space (
The Space Amoeba )
After
being sabotaged by aliens a space probe crashes on a remote Pacific
island and contaminating the surrounding waters with a plague virus.
Normal sized sea creatures are turned into giant monsters whose
sole aims in life are to fight each other and do as much damage
to the island as possible. The main culprits are Gezora, a squid;
Gamine, a crab and Kameba, a turtle.

Gamera vs Jiger
( Gamera Tai Daimaju Jaiga )
An ancient statue is taken to Japan for Expo
70. A giant creature is disturbed during its removal and it follows
it to Japan where it wreaks havoc. When Gamera tries to fight it,
the creature injects Gamera with its spawn, forcing scientists to
travel inside Gamera's body to eliminate the monsters.

Gamera vs Zigra ( Gamera Tai Shinkai
Kaiju Jigura )
An alien creature heads toward s Earth destroying
a moonbase en route. Zigra can apparently metamorphose into different
shapes and has a coma-causing stare. Zigra turns into a kind of giant
swordfish to fight Gamera who turns up to save Japan.

Godzilla vs The Smog Monster (
Godzilla vs Hedora )
A
giant flying slug-like creature is created when life forms arriving
on a meteorite are affected by heavy pollution. Godzilla, coming
ashore to investigate the pollution, saves the day and eventually
destroys the monster with his nuclear breath.

Ghidrah
is back on Earth and up to no good with his new pal Gigan. Godzilla
teams up with Angilas to see them off.

Gojira vs Megaro )
The
surface world is under threat from the undersea civilisation of
Seatopia who send Megalon and Gigan to wipe it out. Godzilla manages
to defeat them with the help of his new tag-team partner the robot
Jet Jaguar.

Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla
( Godzilla vs The Cosmic Monster )
A
robot Godzilla is built by aliens from the Third Planet of the Black
Hole who think they can use it to conquer Earth by defeating the
real thing who is currently up and about after giving Angilas a
hiding. They reckon without help for Godzilla from King Seesar,
silly boys.

1975:
Terror Of Mechagodzilla (
Monsters From An Unknown Planet )
Aliens
from the Third Planet of the Black Hole use a reconstructed Mechagodzilla
to help them invade Earth. Titanosaurus, a giant underwater monster
controlled by a mad scientist also gets involved and poor old Godzilla
is on the receiving end, but eventually triumphs with a little help
from the puny humans who manage to neutralise Titanosaurus long
enough for Godzilla to get the upper hand.

Gamera: Super Monster (
Uchu Kaiju Gamera )
Alien 'Zanons' send all the super-monsters Gamera
has ever fought to try and destroy Earth's hero monster in a final
battle. The film uses a lot of footage from previous Gamera movies.

The
dinosaur with the dodgy breath is back as a more powerful revamp
of the original movie.

Godzilla vs Biollante (
Gojira vs Biollante )
Godzilla
is free once more from his prison in a volcano. This time he battles
with a creation resulting from a strange recombination of DNA.

1991:
Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
A
creature from the past is brought back by alien time travellers
to do battle with Godzilla. Complicated to-ing and fro-ing in time
results in the construction of MechaKing Ghidorah which 'perishes'
in the sea with Godzilla as the human operator escapes.

1992:
Godzilla vs Mothra (
The Battle For Earth )
Godzilla,
Mothra and Battra are awoken when a meteorite hits the Earth. Mothra
and Battra resume their ancient battle while Godzilla kicks Japanese
buildings about. The Moths end up having to fight together against
Godzilla in order to protect their eggs, Battra dying as they despatch
the big green one back into the ocean. Mothra then keeps a promise
to Battra by saving the Earth from a second meteorite. It's actually
a bit more complicated than that, but you get the general idea?

A
new organisation, The United Nations Godzilla Countermeasures Center
( UNGCC ) builds a robotic giant to combat Godzilla and Rodan.

Godzilla vs Space Godzilla
Godzilla
DNA finds its way into a black hole, re-emerging as a super-monster
that attacks both Godzilla and the new UNGCC robot giant Mogera.

Gamera, Guardian Of The Universe
Gamera
battles his legendary opponents, the Gyaos, when they leave their
remote island and ravage the Japanese mainland.

Godzilla vs Destroyer

The
weapon used to defeat the original Godzilla, the oxygen destroyer,
is used again to create a monster to fight the latest Godzilla.

Gamera 2: Advent Of Legion
( Gamera 2: Region Shurai )
A meteor lands in Japan and the resulting impact
unleashes hundreds of giant insect-like creatures who head towards
Tokyo. The military cannot cope so Gamera has to come to the rescue
and battle with the ever-changing space creatures.

Mothra
( Mosura )
Death Ghidora is released from a tomb during
forestry work and a new Mothra has to defeat it to save Japan. New
'fairies' ( Moll and Lora ) in this one, which is the first of a trilogy
of new Mothra films.

1997:
Mothra 2 (
Mosura 2 ) ( Battle Under The Deep Sea )
A creature called Go-Go is discovered by fishermen
and brought ashore. It escapes and is befriended by local children
and Mothra's fairies. It leads them off in search of secret treasure,
pursued by the fishermen under control of the evil fairy Belvera.
Go-Go raises an underwater temple to the surface and they explore
it, discovering that pollution in the water has awakened the sleeping
monster Dagahra. It fights new versions of Mothra in MothraLeo and
AquaMothra before it is defeated.

Godzilla
The giant radiation-mutated dinosaur
comes ashore in New York which it has chosen as its ideal nesting
site and causes huge destruction in avoiding the efforts of all and
sundry to destroy him. Brand new computer-generated Godzilla from
Tristar. Pretty, but lacks personality.

Mothra 3

In order to save the present-day world Metal
Mothra travels back in time to slice up a younger version of King
Ghidorah.

Gamera 3: the Awakening Of Iris (
Gamera 3: Iris Kakusei )
A young girl, whose parents were killed by Gamera
in 1995 during his battle with the Gyaos, found a monster egg at the
time and has been raising it ( called 'Iris' ) on blood ever since
in order to get revenge on Gamera. Huge destruction follows and it
includes a bit more human interest than others.

1999:
Godzilla 2000 (
Gojira Ni-Sen Mireniamu )
The Godzilla Prediction Network tracks a Godzilla
as it starts destroying a coastal city. A recently discovered 60 million
year old underwater rock starts to float towards the creature which
destroys it with its atomic breath, revealing a UFO inside. The UFO
is damaged, but knocks out the Godzilla with a ray blast before heading
inshore for repairs. Godzilla tracks it down and the UFO mysteriously
transforms itself into a gigantic monster called Orga for the final
showdown.

2000:
Godzilla vs Megaguirus: G-EradicationOperation
Godzilla's
old human adversaries get together again to create a plasma based
ultimate anti-Godzilla weapon - 'Dimension Tide' - but a badly-aimed
shot hits a nest of insect eggs, creating giant dragonflies called
Meganura. Their queen, Megaguiras, sees Godzilla as a rival and the
usual city-stomping action follows, with the evil scientists apparently
trying to wipe out anything that is left standing as well. |

2001:
Gojira, Mosura, Kingu Gidora: Daikaiju Soukougeki
50 years on, Godzilla is attacking
Japan again. Isayama, an aged member of a holy cult which protected
Japan in ancient times, calls on his brotherhood to raise the three
monsters King Ghidorah, Mothra and Baragon to protect them from
the lizard. A survivor of Godzilla's last visit, now General Tachibana,
has also been preparing for a rematch should Godzilla ever raise
his head again. Tachibana's daughter Yuri follows the monster battles
as a TV reporter and is uneasy about the strong sensation of hatred
which she feels emanating from the Godzilla.
